  • how to “un dolby” some narration?

    Hi

I am gonna post this on the audio pro forum as well

I have a show and at a couple of places throough the show the producers had to replace some narration. When they dropped in the new narration, it sounds to my seasoned ears that they had the dolby decode “off” when putting in the sound. so my quextions are this:

    1. The sound bits no doubt cam from BetaSP, which i think uses dolby A. does anyone know how i can “decode” after the fact? like some plug in?

    2. If not, does anyone know which frequencies I should be playing with?

    3. where on the interweb would i look for the frequency info?

    thanx

    hey

Fixed using Match EQ in Soundtrack. Man i wish i had that when i was doing donut spots (ie gap in the middle of a spot for a price item insert)

usually recording the guy in a booth on an 800 $ condenser mic, and trying to make it sound like the guy on location with a lav)wholly cow, what an awesome tool!

    thanx anyway!

    Nice tip Bob!

I’m sure I’ll be pulling that one out in the near future.

    FYI, BetaSP uses Dolby C.

    really?

that would make sense cuz it stands for dolby CRAP! (i always use afm)

    cool! thanx!

btw, i went to the dolby web site and found a manual on the dolby analog encoder decoder and it had specs on all the flayvas! A B C SR
    very informative!

    Hey Tom

The instructions for the effect “Match EQ” are not in the SP manual (nice)

However, under the help menu go to online support or apple support oe wahtever it sez like that, do a search for Match EQ and yopu will find step by step on how to do it

    hopethis helps
