I’ve noticed that, in editing mode, when the timeline cursor is over a clip, it is automatically highlighted. In the same timeline, in some cases, both audio and video get highlighted, in some cases, just video. I’d rather it just didn’t highlight at all. I’m coming over from FCP 7 so some of the Premiere behaviors are a little foreign to me. Is there a way to turn this off? Thanks!

I’ve just updated to the newest version of Premiere as of July 2017. Using a PC laptop.

If you go to the Sequence drop down menu and un-check Selection Follows Playhead, you should be good to go.

This has annoyed the crap out of me. Bob is correct on how to temporarily turn it off. There is no way to permanently turn this off. It will come back the moment you use Lumetri and you’ll have to turn it off again. New sequences will default to on. I’ve made a keyboard shortcut to help make it easier to turn off.
    Good Luck!
