  • How to tell if the tape is 24p or 24pa

I just went through a bunch of postings but I’m still unclear. This is one of those “my friend is giving me some tapes from a long time ago and doesn’t know how it was shot” situations.

All I know is that the tapes were shot using a DVX100a.

I’m wondering what the process is using Final Cut (I have fcp7) to figure out if the footage was shot as 24p or 24pa.

Do I do 2 diff captures (or maybe by process of elimination, only 1)? What is the setting I should use? Do I use the 29.97 Advanced Pulldown Removal and then look what the cadence is?

EDITED: Actually, now that I think about it, I’m worried about asking this next question. Are there any other settings it could be?

    Thanks in advance.
