How to sync multiple audio clips to one video clip?
How do you sync multiple short audio clips to the audio of one long video clip? I did this last night fine, seleced 20+ clips of audio and a video clip then chose synchronize clips and it sync’d all the audio as connected clips to the video, perfectly. Now, I can’t repeat the results on another project, it just stacks all the audio clips at the beginning.
Any ideas?

Yes, it’s the camera mic and is much further from the source. Which is the same situation as the project that worked perfectly before.

The original .wav audio clips are 44.1khz and the video is 48khz. I did make 48khz .aiff’s in compressor, but it’s the same result either way.
When it worked the first time, before synchronizing I selected all the audio clips and opened the info pane to enter Camera Name- audio and Camera Angle- 2. Same for the video clip, Name- video Angle- 1. I thought for sure this function’s results would easily be reproducible, after being so easy the first time.
I can get it to sync in a Multicam Clip… but I need to mix the two sources.

David, if syncing works using create multi-cam, then simply select all the clips within the multi-cam editor (cmd+A), then paste back in your project.
The only downside is that all your clips will be placed in a storyline, but you can always “lift” out of a storyline if you wish.
It’s not ideal, but certainly a workaround 😉

Shot in the dark here…
In FCP7, the order in which you make a selection will change the order of clips on a timeline. In other words, in FCP7 I could CMD-Click clips out of sequence, lay them all in a timeline at once, and their order in the timeline will match the sequence in which I selected them.
I might, maybe, possibly be the same thing working here. Maybe, could be, the first time it worked you selected the video first and FCPX makes that the ‘reference’ for the other clips. Kinda. Maybe. I’m just saying that if all else is failing but you know it worked once, this is worth a few seconds to try to see if the software is thinking like that.
