  • How to stop Premiere from saving any files to my local drive

I have a macbook air with very little free space on the harddrive. As far as I know I have chosen all options to make Premiere save to my external drive, but the HD is still being filled up. Maybe I have forgotten something.

Media Cache database is on external drive

Scratch disk is same as project (external disk)

Assuming you’re using CC, you can go to File>Project Settings>Scratch Disks and set that to external drives (or same as project if that’s where they reside). Beyond that, we still have a media cache folder in Premiere Pro where we store audio conforms, pek files, etc. You can access and clear that by going to preferences>media and choosing ‘clean media cache’
