How would an editor get the Avid to split transition effects if there’s a dissolve or the audio has a fade. A dialog pops up saying “Can’t split transition effect”. Why doesn’t it offer a Yes/No dialog that we could answer Yes to splitting the transition effect? Is there a work-around that doesn’t involve a lot of effort? This is for Meridian Media Composer v.11.2.6.

    Thank you!

You have to remove the transition and reapply it. It’s not asking if you want to split it, it’s telling you it can’t (or won’t. You never know with an Avid 🙂 I assume you’re trying to copy material and you’re copying the transition with the media?

another silly “feature” of Avid’s….I really love the way you lose your transitions when you move a piece in segment mode……uhhh…..why would I ever want that to happen…..

the split transition thing is stupid but there is a way around losing transition when moving in segment mode. just add an edit mark in the empty space or media before or after your clip(depending on where your dissolve is) and then when you selct the clip in segment mode also select that empty space/media and it will all stay as it was after you move it. has saved me many times.

    good luck,
