  • How to separate audio channels?

Hi guys, I’m a new Premiere user coming from Avid and I have some confusion working with audio right now.

I filmed some interviews with a radio mic on channel one and channel two was recording from the onboard mic. In Premiere I want to bin the second channel and pan the first channel across left and right. The problem is I haven’t got a clue how to do so! This was a doddle in Avid and I’m sure it’s easy in Premiere.

Could someone give me a hand here?

    cheers

Edit; I managed to find out how to do it. Basically, I should have mapped out the audio of the clips before I put them on the timeline, by right clicking and modifying, then changing the stereo track to two mono tracks… Et Voila.

However I had already finished the edit and was planning to fix the audio once finished as I always have done with Avid. There is a workaround for this; an audio effect called fill left or fill right, which duplicates the right channel to the left or vice versa.

Hope this is useful to someone else
