  • How to render portion of TL to video on disk

I’ve imported an *.mpg format file… and put it on the timeline.
How can I render a portion of the timeline out to some other format?

With a section of TL selected, I press File/Render but I’m offered only an audio template… apparently no way to get to a video template to set what format I want rendered section to be.

On a second attempt, I converted an *.mpg to *.avi container with DV format using Avidemux-2.5

A Gspot report of the converted file is at the end of this message.

And finally I imported a captured clip from my sony vx2100 camera which are known to work in vegas and still cannot get a video template to render something.

(That Gspot report is also included at the end)

I must have messed up a setting or something. I’ve used vegas on the last mentioned clip once before and had no trouble.

Some really dumb operator error is at play here I’m sure

What am I doing wrong… how to export or render out to disk something from the vegas timeline. All I get is a audio choice, nothing is offered in the way of video formats.

Do you mean that you don’t get a render option screen like this?

No… I have that same panel… Sorry… I guess what through me was having *.avi in the file type one another install, in which case the templaes menu offers something very different

If you have *.wav as file type… next time you look all you see are audio formats under the templates dropdown.

I guess my only excuse is lack of use and getting confused with how the templates change with choice of file type, instead of the other way round. I expected to see a list of all available templates under the template drop down, not just those for audio.
