I have a mac without any extra codec and I need to render my movie to mpeg2 which will then be broadcasted on tv. Where can I get the required codec and what are the best settings for my purpose. Thanks very much, I have to deliver it by tomorrow night (already with extended deadline)

On the mac it isn-t possible to direct render as mpeg2 –
Render as QT (Animation) bring it to a PC and use somthing like
the Main Concept (www.mainconcept.com/downloads.shtml) or Tmpeg Converter (www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html).
I like the quality and speed of the Main Concept thing and it-s not to
    expensive –
Instead of transfering it to the PC – Use a tool like “cleaner”
    Hope this helps

There’s also an MPEG-2 codec for Quicktime. I think you can get it off the QT site. could be $25 or so. Then you can render to QT Animation in After Effects and bring into Quicktime and export as MPEG-2.

I got it here https://homepage.mac.com/major4/download.html for free. Now, how should I set the audio and video settings to get good quality for tv broadcast? I mean both in AE and the encoding software.
