How to Render a Very Small FLV?
I’m an editorial illustrator and I’ve begun doing animations of about one minute in length for a website that asks that I give them FLV or SWF files and that I keep them under 1 MB — preferably about 800 KB.
I’ve been having a very hard time keeping the file size so small while still retaining at least some of the look of the art.
I create the art and characters in Photoshop (my work has a textured look and organic shapes which don’t translate well to Illustrator) and after animating I then export the animations as FLV files out of AE CS5 (I’ve tried using Adobe Media Encoder, but using settings as close as I can get to the ones from AE seems to export files that are larger than the ones from AE). The settings I use in AE are usually:
Frame Rate: 8
Size 500 X 500 px
Output Info: On2 VP6, Bitrate: 50 kbps
Audio: 22.050 KH/MonoThese wind up looking very pixellated and degraded. Is there anything anyone can suggest to improve the look of animations while still keeping the file size very small?
I’d be very, very grateful for any suggestions – many thanks in advance.
