  How to recover from Lost P2 Media

  Can anyone help me on this one. I just lost my media array (RAID 0, couple of bad maxtor/seagate drives) and the P2 media on it. How easy/hard is it to get back to where I was?

  I have all the original P2 media backed up on an external firewire drive. When I started this project I read all the documentation on the avid support site and I followed their import suggestions.

  I did the ‘import p2’ – ‘clips to bin’ first. Then I did the ‘import p2’ – ‘media’ to my internal media drive. So now how do I re-import the media so I don’t see ‘media offline’ anymore?

  I tried to do the same steps as I did the first time. But after I import the p2 media.. my sequence is still offline. Do I need to relink the sequence.. or do a batch import?

  I originally imported the media on media composer 3.0.5. I’m currently running 3.1.3. Can anyone help me get up and running again? The avid documentation doesn’t say much about how to re-import media so it relinks again. I remember stories from the early days of p2 where people said if you lost your media.. you were in big trouble. I’m hoping it won’t be that hard to recover this project.

  Also what should I have done to backup the media? Should I have ditched the original p2 media and backed up the new avid MXF media (in the Avid MediaFiles folder)?
