how to properly organize and After Effects file with a banch of animated characters
Hello,
I am working with a banch of animated characters in After Effects.
Is the best way to keep each one of them in a different composition?Also, the time of the events change each time that I change the overall time in the composition settings -so I can see only a couple of hundred frames in the timeline instead of a couple of thousand). Is there a command to keep the events fixed in lengh.
Could someone post a simple file that has a couple of animated characters, so I see the organization of the file.

You can adjust how much of the timeline you can see with the slider at the base of the timeline, the slider is between two sets of mountain icons, little ones on the left, big ones on the right, clicking the little mountain moves the slider left and puts more of the timeline into view. Unless AE 7 has a different setup, it’s been this way back to at least AE5 up to AE 6.5.
I don’t know what you mean by “Characters”, text? or animated characters as in cartoon characters? If you mean text, I believe everything is done in the layer, with animators, (like if you animate position you’re given the option to apply it to character, word, line or all) and you’d need to read the help files or get info from someone else, I semi-text-challenged.
