  • how to properly bring in AVCHD (.mts) files into CS4 Premiere Pro Master?

Posted by Joe Daniels on July 23, 2009 at 9:09 pm

I bought a new camcorder that exports AVCHD (.mts) files. Can this file be brought into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Master? If so, what is the proper way to bring this file in? What do I select? Is there a trick? I did a test, I put it on the timeline, did my edits…exported and the finished clip looked bad! I exported as an uncompressed avi.(which normally with my other clips this works fine, just new to the AVCHD (.mts) stuff!

So what am I missing here? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Am i bringing in or exporting wrong or both!

Did you ever get an answer to this. I’ve just got the Canon HF S10 and am wondering how to get .mts files into PrPro CS4. NIGE

Yes, me too, I have the same problem. Does anyone know how to solve it?

Just guessing, but this sounds like you might need to use an intermediate codec…

Here’s another article that describes a funky way of modding your system to avoid using an intermediate codec…

This issue has popped up a number of times. If anyone really tackles this issue and develops a rock-solid workflow, please post it here.
