  • How to pick up color from an image in Gradient Window?

Posted by Sumeet Khurana on November 4, 2011 at 5:29 pm

    Hi,

I am using Adobe Illustrator CS3on Window Xp.

I have created a rectangle in my file and I want to put gradient to it.
But I want to pick colors fom a reference jpg image.
Double clicking the “gradient stop” only opens the color picker window and like Photoshop CS3 , Illustrator does not has eyedropper tool in color picker window.

So is there a way in Illustrator to pick up a color from a jpg image in gradient window? I would be very thankful for any help.

    With kind regards,
    Sumeet.

I would just use the Eyedropper to select the color, them drag the color from your Color palette into your Swatches palette.
    Do this for both colors.
Then create your gradient from your swatches.
I don’t think this is exactly what you want to do, but it’s just how I might do it.

Thanks Vince, but this is exactly what I have been doing all these days.I was wondering if there was some other way in Illustrator which could make my workflow faster much like in Photoshop.
    Thanks for the reply Venice.

Select the eyedropper, select the gradient stop and hold Shift to pick color from the image into the gradient stop.
