How to perform the same crossdissolve/crossfade on multiple editpoints
Hello, Im new here and new to FCP..
I just started working as a trainee for a TV company and I’ll be doing lots of simple and fast edits on lots of material, mostly sports events.
I am wondering if there is a sort of “batch process” for applying crossdissolves and crossfades for multiple editpoints?
Lets take for example a 3 hour NASCAR race that has lots of commercialbreaks that I have to edit out. A simple one sec crossdissolve/fade between the clips will do 9 times out of 10. Im now doing them one by one..
I know this “apply the same transition between all clips” is more of a Windows Movie Maker thing ;), but in my case would save a LOT of time and clicking around…
I have searched the manual but haven´t found what Im looking for..

if the clips all have in/out points set when you open them in the browser, and are named/numbered in a manner that if you do a sort (clicking the category in the browser window), you can drag them to the canvas and drop them on the ‘insert with transition’. They will all be laid out with your default transition in place. To set your default transition, open the effects tab, find the transition you want to set, set the length of that transition within the browser window, and then right click, set as default.
Or you, can set your default transition, and then use the up or down arrows to go to the next cut, and hit command-T.

I´ll try it both ways and see witch is faster. Im in the very beginning stages of learning FCP ( Im a AE/Premiere user at home ) and I want to do things the right way straight from the start, and this was very helpful.Have a good one,
