  • How to monitor HD projects

I’m using Premiere for some time now, but only for SD projects. I’m wishing to upgrade to HD in the very near future. I’d like to know what card to use so I can output an HD signal to an HD monitor, and what input connector should the HD monitor have.

I would also like to know how to tell a real HD monitor from the not so real ones. Is the resolution only the determining factor to tell if it’s HD? Someone’s selling me a reference LCD monitor with 1,024 x 768 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio. Is that an HD monitor? I know that HD cameras shoot 16:9, so I think the monitors should also be in that aspect ratio.

Currently, I just use a breakout box with component connectors, connect it to an SD CRT monitor and that’s it. Thanks and God bless.
