  • how to mix 720-30p with 1080i (HDV) ???

Posted by Enrique Orozco on December 8, 2006 at 8:08 pm

I have shoots from 2 JVCs and 1 Sony (HDVs) that need to “mix” to make a DVD.
NLE: Vegas 7 ….. I’ve heard that 720p and 1080i are not compatible… is it possible to edit them on the same timeline ?

Any recomendation would be greatly apreciated…..

    Regards

You can put them both on your timeline. Set your project properties to match whatever you are using most, then the clips in the other format will be conformed.

is as simple as that ? … would not be better to “convert” first, for example the 1080i clips to 720p ? (or the 720p clips to 1080i…)

I also have connectHD (cineform)… do you recommend capturing from the JVCs and Sony as cineform-AVIs and work with these AVIs on the timeline ?

    regards

I’d recommend doing some quick tests to see what works best and how the final output compares.
