  • How to mix 2 channels of audio in FCP for send to Compressor

Posted by Joel Matthew on January 26, 2012 at 5:11 pm

Very basic question – I want my DVD to have mixed audio, not stereo. In FCP 7.02, I have two tracks of audio, different mics. When I send to Compressor, it keeps 2 channels stereo.

Is there a way to mix it before sending it over?

    And if that doesn’t work?
I just clicked that, and sent it to Compressor, and it still had split audio…. am I missing something?

Wait…I thought you WANTED that…split audio. Your original post says you want MIXED, but not STEREO. How can it be mixed but not stereo? Now you say you don’t want it split.

What do you want? Split? or Stereo? Mixed is stereo…Split is dual Mono.

In FCP, channel one is the lav. Channel two is the boom mic. I want it mixed on both channels when I play the DVD.

So I want to do this in FCP so I can send it to Compressor and have it mixed on both channels from the DVD.

Pan all the audio to centre so it comes out mixed together as two channel mono.

Right, when you want exactly the same audio on both tracks.
