Can anyone provide me with a step-by-step instructions of how to “mask” a boom mic that’s in the left hand corner of the screen. Or could you provide me with a link that has that same information.

there are a few ways, and depends on whether the shot is locked off, and how much the boom moves around.

If shot is locked and you have a piece of video where the boom isn’t in the shot you should be able to crop/matte that video and throw on top of the boom affected area. If the shot is handheld I’d be looking at motion tracking in Motion or AE.

Aswell, cloning and feathering works great in some situations, and key action isn’t passing behind the area in question.

Depending on how far into the frame it is, you could zoom in and recenter your frame.

You may not have this luxury if you cannot afford to lose resolution, but up to 10 percent may not be too bad depending on factors of original shot quality, sharpness, and where the final product will end up.

I’ve even had to zoom up a shot to crop out a mic in handheld shots, setting key frames throughout the duration of the intrusion.
