sorry i didnt mean writing
i meant text, any form of text just to appear over the video clip
instead of having text appear over plain background colours -

The Media Generator has presets with a transparent background. Use one of those, or you can manually set the background’s transparency (alpha setting) in the media properties dialog.

Put the text on a separate track ABOVE the track containing the video. If you put the text on the same track as the video, you’ll REPLACE the video with the text.
