How to make Smooth Falloff accurately diminish light over distance like Inverse Square?
Hello all,
while working with both AE Light Falloff types Inverse Square was more accurate by default in diminishing light over distance, after some adjustment to maintain that while moving layers. Smooth falloff allows more control but its’ settings are difficult to match inverse squares’ light diminishing accuracy.
IE:
Using a light with Smooth falloff directly facing a layer&mask rotated(in X) to near flat, the RGB values start at 42 nearest the light, then diminish to 17 in the middle and remain 17 to the end of the layer furthest from light.
But using an Inverse Square falloff after Radius adjustments, results in a steady layer illumination from 42 to 16 RGB.– the camera&light are at origin;Z=0 and Y=136,
– the rotated layers’ front edge is 1219 pixels infront the light and below it at y=50. The rear edge furthest from light is at 1625 pixels,.1) are there any Smooth falloff settings that will match inverse squares’ light diminishing accuracy?,
please let me know.
thanks in advance,
Jeff
