Hi, I just upgraded to CS4 with the 4.1 update and so far I’m loving the performance increases, such as the next to nothing load times and the attempt at showing RAM previews as fluently as possible.

However, when I checked my taskbar to see how much Premiere was using when I had a lot of ram preview effects going on, it was only at 270,000 KB. I was shocked, here I am with a wonderful 4GB system and this program doesn’t even dare to use at least 512MB of it to do its bidding. I cannot have this, I want my high speed DDR3 RAM to be used as much as possible from Premiere.

I already have the selection of Optimize for ‘Performance’. Is there any way I can increase the amount of RAM Premiere uses for its needs?

Its gonna use only what it needs, plus since its still a 32 bit program it can only use so much memory. I have 12GB or ram and it can only use 3GB of that at any time. Just wait until CS5, hopefully they are working on a full 64 bit version for snow leopard.

I hope so. Seems as though it would take the b*tching of the MAC world to make some of these companies to fully support 64bit. (Adobe and Canon in my case)

Forgot to ask, is this true still with the 4.1 update?
