  • how to make a stereo file from 104 video clips w/ 4 tracks of audio?

I have 104 video clips from a Sony FS700 and each clip has 4 audio tracks. But, only audio tracks 3 & 4 have usable audio. #3 is hotter than #4, but both are good to have b/c #4 may get too hot and distort in a few places. Anyway, I’d love to make one long stereo file from tracks 3&4 (I have another software that can replace the native audio once I get this stereo clip).

So, what’s the best way to go about this? Of note:

1- I know I can add each clip to a multitrack session and right click each file – clip properties – Source Channel Routing – then make tracks 3 & 4 in left and right. If I export this clip, I get a stereo file. But, I really don’t want to do this manually for 104 clips and it won’t let me select multiple clips and adjust them the same way all at once.
2- in Waveform, I can extract all 4 audio tracks in their 4 mono files. But, I’m confused b/c they play back louder in the Multitrack than the stereo file I created w/ the above method and also don’t have their individual levels (ie #3 is hotter than #4). They play & display at equal levels.
3- I tried doing part of this in Premiere by putting all the clips in a timeline, muting all but audio channel #3, exporting that as a mono file, doing the same for #4, then making a stereo file in Audition by putting the two mono clips in a stereo multitrack session. From there, I made a stereo file by panning the mono files to opposite sides, selecting them, then “Bouncing” the two selected clips to a new track. This stereo file comes in lower in volume when compared to the method used in #1 above. I’m totally confused.

    Any thoughts?
