My camcorder is just a cheap, simple unit– a JVC EVERIO HARD DISK DRIVE doo-dah.

It does possess the advantage of recording in high-definition, and in the 16:9 aspect.

I’m a n00B at videography, and I’m wondering what to do about the aspect ratio… All my (computer) video players will play this footage at 4:3. The image is super-clear, but of course the imagery is compressed laterally till it’s super-skinny.

How do you recommend I handle this footage in PREMIERE CS3 and AECS3? Let’s say I want to preserve that 16:9 aspect ratio… and publish this video to YouTube or burn it to DVD for watching on a 4:3 television screen?

BTW, the output of this camcorder is MPEG-2 with AC3 stereo sound.

    Thanks, Dave
