How to get XAVC in Premiere CS5/6 FREE
Now that there is an increased support for 2k/4k XAVC in many NLE’s (which you can see listed here) where does that leave some of the older and non-supported NLE’s or even other software like After Effects, etc..?
I recently wrote two quick-guides on how you can either use a free version of Davinci Lite or trial version of FCP X to transcode your XAVC into any myriad of file formats you desire.
ProRes is probably the most popular, but there is also H.264 which can be very good quality for editing offline proxy files or rendering out a final output for uploading to Vimeo or YouTube.
Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions about it!
