  • How to get Boris Transitions to work in CS5?

Posted by Bill Thomas on October 16, 2013 at 4:59 pm

    Hi all,

    Dumb question here:

I’m trying out the Boris Final Effects plugins in CS5 and they installed correctly but they all showed up in the Effects folder and none in the Transitions folder.

Although Boris Transitions show up in the effects folder and when I try to apply them between 2 clips, it always tries to apply to a single clip.

Is there a reason that Boris Transitions don’t work like the native transitions?

And if they don’t, how would I be able to use the Boris transitions between 2 clips?

    Thanks all…

    Bill

I don’t think may effects in the market are used as native transitions (I think Boris’s makeshift AE replacement called Boris RED can do it).

Generally you apply the transition to both clips, put clip 1 above clip 2 and overlap where they join slightly, then you keyframe the effect amount from 0 to 100 on the entering clip and 100 on the exiting clip.

    Hi guys,
In the upcoming release of Premiere Pro CC, some plug-in foundries will have transitions that will be in the transitions folder and can be applied in a single track as standard transitions. GenArts comes to mind.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
