How to fix Wave Wrap pixelation

June 16, 2022 at 6:14 amSo I have a film strip thats an AI file that I want to wrap in and out of other objects in 3d and I found wave wrap works best but I’m getting horrible pixelation where’s it’s waving anyone know how to fix that
I’ve also turned continuous rasterization both on and off and that hasn’t changed anything I’ve also pre comped it with no success

June 16, 2022 at 10:43 amIt is a limitation of the wave warp, the internal formula that does the distortion doesn’t have enough precision at such extreme settings, it even seems to max out at Wave width of 128, more than that and it starts doubling pixels. So at 6000% you’re seeing columns of nearly 48 pixels.
Maybe a good alternative can be Mesh Warp with 1 row and 2 columns, you can manually set the bezier handles of the distortion in the middle.
Or a displacement map, but you’d have to create a custom grayscale map to do the distortion you want. Something like these:
