When the Flash durration is just a PART of the frame duration this happens.

You can’t recover the picture under the overexposure – all the pixels are pegged at 255 white and there no detail there.

All you can do is accept that a flash happened and if the fact that it’s a “Half frame” flash bothers you – replace it with a full-frame of white – or copy the uninfected frame before or after it to replace the bad frame and accept the glitch in motion.

It’s just the physics of flash duration verses frame timing.

    Sorry.

[Ko Frank] “I try to fix this with RE:VisionFX DE:Flicker. But the effect is not good.”

That’s because that’s not the kind of problem that DE:Flicker fixes. DE:Flicker is for LED light and screen sources flickering in the frame, not flash banding artifacts created from using a CMOS sensor.

    What camera are you using?

I would literally delete that frame if it bothers you. Probably wouldn’t be noticeable. But if it is you could use the previous frame to cover just that portion of the frame.

[Craig Seeman] “There’s always NewBlueFX Flash remover plugin.

If $99 is worth it to fix a single flash problem. Frankly, I don’t think people care. I see it in vids all the time and I bet you 99% of the online viewing audience doesn’t notice and/or care.

Back when CMOS sensors were coming into vogue people would fret about how their clients would react. These days I’m seeing in narrative broadcast. I think there’s been an assumption that there’d be a negative response that hasn’t really happened. With the pervasive nature of CMOS, it’s become the new norm.

    1. Download a free trial of Adobe Premiere Pro
    2. Cut out the frames with the flash in PPro.
    3. Add the ‘morph cut’ transition to (hopefully) seamlessly cover what’s missing

Or download Free Davinci Resolve. Add morph cut.

Or best choice purchase mMorph from motionvfx. Enjoy morph cut in FCPX without renting software.
