  • How to find RMS meter for Pink Noise volume calibration?

Posted by Matt Wilson on May 18, 2017 at 8:24 am

    Hi all,

Working in FCPX and Adobe Audition, and realized my attempts at Pink Noise volume calibration were made difficult as the default meters are Peak meters, and show my Pink Noise at -9. In FCPX I finally found the RMS meters by going to Effects>Audio>Specialized>Multimeter and clicking the meter icon. This pulls up a meter that simultaneously displays RMS and Peak levels. Does anyone know offhand where you can find RMS meters in Adobe Audition? (I had looked at Window>Amplitude, but my Pink Noise didn’t seem to be playing at -20. Maybe I need to learn how to read those meters.)

    Any tips are most appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Matt
