  • How to export mixed res footage from and HD project in Premier Pro 2.0

    Hello,

My friend is working on Premier Pro 2.0 – yes it’s 5 years old!

She has an HD project into which she’s imported M2T files directly from our Sony Z7’s card. She’s also imported some SD footage. She says she is unable to import M2T files into an SD project and therefore imported the SD into the HD project instead of the other way around – which would have made more sense.

Her edit is complete and she wants to make a regular DVD but when she exports an SD movie file from the HD project and then encodes and burns, the resulting DVD is fuzzy and pixelated.

We have tried exporting an uncompressed HD AVI file but the export failed on several attempts. Should we export SD from premier or export HD and then down convert? What settings make the most sense? Both approaches are giving us issues so I’m hoping someone can offer some insight perhaps on the export settings or workflow in general.

Obviously, this is a problem she needs to avoid in the future and my thoughts are to transcode the M2T files prior to importing them into PP regardless of whether she’s working in HD or SD. I work on FCP and don’t have these issues. The FCP plug-in transcodes the M2T’s for me and I have no issues bringing them into an SD project if need be.

Any ideas on what to do?

    Many thanks for your time!
