how to export from after effects to finalcut pro
im a finalcut person ,been trying to figure this for a while i have a video clip shot in from of a green screen and i cant get a good key in finalcut pro because the cloth was wrinkled however im able to get a good key in after effects using keylight . the question is ,is there away i can just key out my green in after effects then export the file with transparency to final cut pro for editing and compositing please help!!!

Export from AE as animation with transparency. I’m just learning AE myself. If you’ve got FCP 7 on your system you’ve got, one of the ProRes codecs (ProRes 444?) carries transparency as well.

Basically, add the comp to render que. Render out as pro res 4444 with RGB+Alpha. Trillions of colors plus.

Wait it came with a black background im trying to to use my maya 3d renders for the background i dont need the black background i want the black area to be transparent is that possible?

Non taken 😉 I feel ya. There’re plenty of pet peeves that I can relate on. I sure am loving working in AE though! The more I earn, the better it is.

I converted all my footage into Apple Pro Res 422 (24 p, 1280 x 720) for use in FCP and want to export edited parts into After Effects.
This site always seems to have an answer when my brain freezes.

To export edited parts into AE, and retain the handles and use the original media, just go on over to automatic duck and download their expensive export/import plugins. Oh, wait, they’re FREE!!!

That’s ridiculous. The reason you’d want to pull out a matte channel pro res file would obviously be that you don’t know the background, or the background will be reedited, or have 30 versions, or be edited somewhere they don’t have AE. Maybe it goes over your WHOLE freakin’ video that you’re still editing. Mabye you want to move him around the screen to the beat of the music. The same reasons you would EVER render anything out with an alpha channel. To have choices and be an editor, not a compositor. Maybe he’s going to sit with a client and choose backgrounds. I dunno. Why question? Ok, question, but don’t badger.
