Hello, I’ve recently finished editing a 15min.DV short in Premeire Pro 1.5. Attempts with Adobe Media Encoder to make either a Quicktime or Mpeg file for the web results in huge files even at small frame size, such as 440×320 pixels.
Any suggestions as to the right method? Thanks Raymond Tarry

By the way, your advice on adjusting my video monitor worked very well – Thanks

A word of caution: The QT export from Premiere Pro is less than acceptable. The file sizes are huge and the quality is not the best as well. If you do plan on exporting QT quite frequently, I would reccomend purchasing Sorenson Squeeze.

Mpeg1 is typicaly encoded at 1 megabit per second – 900 seconds will result in a file of 90 megabytes – which is qite large. Anything Quicktime will be larger than comparable (IMNSHO) in windows media. 320×240 looks very nice at 300 kbp but still results in a file of about 30 mb. Your slighly larger 440×320 will look pretty good at 500 kbps. The wmv export from PPro is pretty good. 300 kbps will be acceptable if you have little motion and no small titles.

If you really want to compress you file size, forget Premiere Pro. I’m not telling you that Premiere is not a good software, it really is, but not for this kind of jog.
Take a look at Sorenson Squeeze at https://www.sorensonmedia.com/ this one is what you need to reduce file size, from almost any format to almost any format.
I use it and doubtless, it’s the best one to do this job.

    I hope it helps.
