How to enable legacy codec in OS X 10.6.4

I have all the codecs available in all the QT applications.
The pic from before was in QT.

QT Lao version?
Whatever the issue, Apple can’t do this just like that.
Unless..Apple is trying to discourage people for exporting to those old codecs. those codecs are – and must be for long – readeable, but not an export option on QT Player (still in MPGStreamclip and probably others).
WHY me I have the option God?
Probably because – against your wise advise, David – I installed SL on top of Leopard, so was something from the old QT 7 on the System.
Any other guess?

I should add that I have tested and confirmed this on my workstation running 10.6.5, but it should work for 10.6.4 as well.

Perhaps rebooting or relaunching QT-based applications after rewriting the preferences is necessary? If it still fails, what happens if you create a new user account and try with that?

I did this a while ago on a Snow Leopard only machine (never had leopard on it).

The terminal will set those codecs free.

Yeah, saw it in MPEG Streamclip, but was hoping to export direct from FCP and AVID instead of exporting a native QT from the editing software and then exporting from MPEG Streamclip.

Hi, I’ve tried that and although it say’s they are now enabled I can’t see it as an option. In fact I can’t see what other codec it enables. I think it’s a placebo.
