  • How To Edit Widescreen to Anamorphic?

Posted by Andy Corleone on June 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Hi, I have some footage shoot at 1280×720 I would like to transform it to Anamorphic to give a more cinematic look. when I create a new sequence of 1280×696 and drop the footage this show with black bars on the sides :S . What is the workflow to do this? I also want to be able to recompose (when is necessary) with the motion tab. Thanks

You’d want to edit natively in a 1280×720 sequence, then apply the widesreen matte filter and set it to 2.35-1. You’ll able to slip each shot up or down inside the matte as needed to get the desired framing.

[Andy Corleone] “I create a new sequence of 1280×696”
You started by choosing a complicated size.
“696” is not divisible by “4”. May cause problems in the borders of your picture.
Why don’t you go to 1280×640 (2×1) that is an standard film aspect ratio?

[Andy Corleone] ” and drop the footage this show with black bars on the sides “
In the “Users Preferences” uncheck “Always scale clips to sequence size”.
    That’s a “Basic Forum” question>
