  • How to edit and grade 16mm TK’d at high def?

    Hi,

What’s the best way to edit and grade 1080p HD on a PC? I’m planning a music video at the moment, we’re hoping to shoot on both HDV and super-16mm. We want to finish on a kind of “dual mode” DVD with an SD version and a HD version on the same DVD.

    So, some specific questions:

    1) What codec should I use to transfer the 16mm footage from the telecine to Premiere Pro? (the TK house can dump all their footage directly onto my USB hard disk)

    2) Can Premiere Pro deal with 10-bit log files? DPX? Cineon? TIFF?

    3) Can I use the new Avid DNxHD codec with Premiere Pro?

    4) I’m planning to convert the HD files to DV for an offline edit in Premiere, then import the HD files in Premiere and then, finally, grade the footage in After Effects.

Any help would be very greatly recieved.

Should I forget Premiere Pro and use Avid Pro HD instead?

    Thanks a lot,
    Jack
