How to edit a bluray .m2ts file in sony vegas without re-rendering (losslessly)
Hi I would like to edit a bluray .m2ts file in Sony Vegas 13 however when I add it to the project the sound does not import, just the picture. Also I want to render an edited version of the bluray video without any recompression/re-rendering or any loss or change of quality whatsoever. What is the best thing to do in terms of workflow?

The M2TS file type is a compressed output format, but not ideal for editing in NLE system. To solve those problems, the quick workaround is to transcode M2TS files to Sony Vegas natively supported formats (MPG/MOV are highly recommended). During the process, it may cause a little loss but can ignore as I’ve tried it.

Is transcoding really a quick workaround? Is there no way I can just open the .m2ts and also get the audio tracks to show since Sony vegas only opens the video, I don’t mind rendering the final edited output as .mp4 I just don’t want intermediate conversion steps. Thanks.
