  • How to disable changing the save directory in FCP ?

Posted by Xavier Gruselle on August 12, 2009 at 1:14 pm

    Hi,

That’s all in the title. I manage several FCP stations, and it’s always dirty and messy because anyone can set its own preferences.

So how can I disable changing the save’s directory in FCP (Final Cut Pro Documents, Capture Scratch, Audio Render Files…) ?

    Thanks in advance !

AFAIK, you cannot. It’s time for end-user education!

Alternatively, you can use one of the FCP preference tools (Preference manager, FCP Rescue) to build default preferences. You, or the end user, would still have to open the program and select the button to restore preferences, which probably won’t solve your problem. But it’s an option.

    Hello Nicole,

thank you for your answer. I’ll check the preference tools, but I’d rather like something like an Applescript trick or an administrator tool…

    “It’s time for end-user education!” : Well, I guess your right 🙂

In one of the fcp facilities I work in each project is allocated its own user name/password.

This is to aid media management for them, but also means that every project has its own preferences, desk top etc.
