How to deal with original video frame from current video frame?

Where did said video originate? Camera? Web?

60fps, straight up? not 59.94? Why did you do this? Why not at 25fps?

Record the video at 25fps, not 60fps

recorded live from web, internet tv using quicktimeX, and I didn’t know how to select to 25 rather than 60 from quicktime, & the more important… I can’t record it anymore, it’s gone on web.

you said “where it says originally frames”, of course I used videospec and iMediaHUD to know the MOV captured, all of them said the current frame is 60 but originally is 25 frames.

So again, The video is a PAL square pixel, 768×576/25p, and I recorded as 768×576/60p (used selection quicktimeX).
from current frames > to > original frames = how? (without reduce quality)
What do you do to fix this problem?

Possibly Compressor to convert the footage and the frame rate. With 60fps to work from, it should get 25fps fine…but will it get the EXACT 25fps of the original video? Not sure. Test test test.

Next time, use an app that can capture (or export) at the frame rate needed. ScreenFlow does great with this.

If Shane’s Compressor suggestion doesn’t work:

Do you have a PC? If so, I’d try AviSynth with a duplication detection filter [link].

Failing that, if the 25-in-60 frame repetition cadence is regular (it should be 2-2-3-2-3 if my math is correct) then you can remove it in After Effects with time remapping and an expression. Drop by the Ae forum [link] and I’ll help you out there.

Well, I tried with compressor too, it isn’t same as 60 frames (movements),
but Thank you Shane Ross for the Screenflow app, i will try this next time.

The compressor doesn’t do the job, nor FCPX too, and as I said above, 25 worse, 30 better, 60 is same.

the duplication deletion maybe is a great idea!, but are you sure it’s same as 60? and would this delete the correct one only? I don’t like to loose any frames originally!
and yes it’s 25 frames in 60 frames video.

I’m right now on Mac, I may not able to come to windows soon. perhaps next month? 🙂

Do you have any other ideas? (especially on Mac)

I’m not sure. You have to step through the footage one frame at a time and see if the repeated frames follows this exact pattern:

Frame A 2x
Frame B 2x
Frame C 3x
Frame D 2x
Frame E 3x

If it does, and if you have After Effects, I can walk you through non-destructively outputting a clean 25fps version.

If not, then AviSynth (PC only) might be your best bet. I used it once some time ago for something similar.
