How to deal with fringing from a DV Chroma key?
Hello –
Im working with greenscreen footage for a school project in DV. I know that DV isnt the greatest source to pull a key from, but here I am anyways – and not without the related frustrations… Its p r e t t y close right now, except that I’m ending up with a white fringing at random problem areas…
Heres my (basic) workflow:
1. Create garbage mask (via autotrace) to choke greenscreen
2. Blur Chroma / Magic Bullet auto DV footage
3. Pull Chroma via Keylight
4. Feather mask
5. Nest scene into Master comp and apply Reelsmart MB to footageStep 4 and 5 help – but its really just a band-aid to the gushing problem of the white fringing on some of the edges. The problem is that its not uniform, so choking the matte just eats into other parts of the footage. Im stuck on how to deal with it (unless I want to be a roto-bot for the next 10 years…). Maybe the AE equivalent of a PS defringe filter?
Any advice on dealing with such issues? Grrr DV! Very appreciated!
