[Mitzi Dobbins] “I have video clips with two people and I want to cut one of them out to take that part and sit it beside another chopped clip. “
This is not easy in Movie Studio 9 because you don’t have the Mask feature of Vegas Pro. You really need to use masks to cut the people out.
In Movie Studio 9 this would require the use of an image editor to make a black and white mask that you can composite on a track above the video using the Multiply (Mask) mode. The area that you want to cut out should be black and the area that you want to keep should be white. Then make the video track a child of the mask track. Here is what it should look like:

Track 1 is your mask track. Change it’s composite mode to Multiply (Mask). Add the black and white mask to this track. Add the Sony Mask Generator plug-in to the mask event.
Track 2 is the video you want to cut out. Set it to be a child composite of the mask track. (Make Compositing Child)
Track 3 is your background.
The above track configuration will cut a round whole exposing the noise from track 2 onto the background track 3. Like this:

Hope this helps,
