February 4, 2007 at 11:20 pmYes, it’s possible. Using a custom edge may not necessary but would help.
Post a couple of links for us to see what you are after and we will let you know if it’s doable.
Salut.

February 5, 2007 at 10:56 pmHey Dotan,
This is possible to create with Invigorator. I would use a Custom edge for the handle. The rest can be shaped in Illustrator.
I will have soon an hour break. I will see what I can come up with.Check the tutorial about creating custom edges that came with your InvigoMany CD.
Salut.

February 6, 2007 at 2:29 amSerge, you rock!
Love the grunge textures. This weapon’s been the battle!
One observation – what would you do to give the blade a more pronounced bevel, like the example image?

February 6, 2007 at 4:59 amHey Jon,
The “Flair Straight” Outside Edge with an edge scale of 1000 and an Edge Offset of -10 will create the exact same bevel then the original picture. It’s just that you would have to create the blade in two parts. (Notice that the top part is not so beveled) You would also have to duplicate the “very” beveled blade, rotate it 180 degrees in the Y-Axis and push it in the Z-Axis so you don’t get a flat back. I decided to go the easier way not to confuse Dotan with the mapping.
Glad you like the textures;-) I created them for a client so I couldn’t share them but I am sure Dotan can find some on the net for free.
Salut my friend.

February 6, 2007 at 6:48 amHi
Serge,i would like to have a look at the project file as well,is that possible?
I’m curious to see how the Custom Edges are made.It looks to me that you need only a Custom Edge for the sword’s grip, right?
When creating models with a complex shape do you use a reference picture to draw the outline paths?

February 6, 2007 at 5:02 pmHey Dotan,
Here is the link:
https://www.nyc-visual.com/Sword.sitPlease open the Sword ai file first to see how I drew the blades and guard. Then check in Invigorator what edge was applied etc…
The Sword_Edge ai file will show you how the grip was shaped. This file has to reside inside of your Custom Edges subfolder but you should know that if you followed the Invigomany tutorial. The edge has to be applied to a tinny circle (0.8 x 0.8).
I won’t make a weapons CD but I will soon update my site with several objects. Among them many old weapons.
Salut.

February 6, 2007 at 5:12 pmHi Julian06
Of course, that’s why I did it;-) The link is in the post bellow.
Yes the custom edge is only needed for the grip.
If the object is complex you could of course trace it. Just import the picture, lock it and use the pentool or whatever you need to recreate the form.Salut.
