    Hello,

I am usually working for broadcast deliver.
But now, after finishing a short a client asked me to build a DCI-p3 Version.
I’ve done some research and find a 709toXYZ-lut in this forum. Thanks a lot to Oyvind Stiauren!.
Now after applying this lut I’ve rendered colorbars to 16 bit dpx.
The code values on the resolve waveform stayed 0-1023 as before. On my ultrascope I see now something slightly under 940 (around 97%) for white and blacks still remain. Monitoring is legal scaled.
And that’s it what lets my be confused. I expected code values from 96-685 (these are the presets in baselight format-editor for 2k)
    So do I miss something?
How are the correct values for black and white in dci-p3?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks & regards

    Knut

I always render unscaled for DCI P3 / XYZ deliveries. Haven’t had any negative feedback on that.

    Thanks Ola.
Do you use the rgbXYZ-lut delivered with resolve? Without any further correction?
What do you think about the lut from Oyvind?
This lut gives a little gamma-lift compared to the resolve-lut, which may compensate the lower brightness of the projection.

Haven’t seen that LUT you mention. I use the one that came with Resolve. I’m also grading most of the things going to cinema on a Christie projector, so I know it looks exactly the same when it’s being viewed with an audience.

Ok, grading on a Christie for cinema is certainly a good way but unfortunately not an option for me now.

Anyone else with good experience using either the rgb2xyz-lut from resolve or the lut from this thread:

    ?
Is there any thing else to do, or could I expect to see ‘more or less’ the picture I graded in 709?

    Thanks.

    Hi Knut
I use the Rec709 to XYZ found in this forum and it works fine for me. Going from 5D, 7D, XdCam EX and F3 to XYZ after grading and it looks good.

Yeah it’s a deal I’m very thankful to have. It also helps to have a great monitor to start with. I got the Autocue BM-AC24T before Christmas, and I’m very impressed. I can get very close to what it will look like in the cinema with it.

The times I’m on the Christie is for that final touch right before rendering.
