  • How to combine 7D 640×480 60fps footage with Panasonic SD 4×3 footage?

I am trying to combine Canon 7D footage shot at 640×480 60 fps with SD footage shot on a Panasonic 100a 4:3 aspect ratio (720×480 29.97 fps). The majority of the footage (hundreds of hours) was shot on the Panasonic so I need to convert the 7D footage so that it doesn’t have to render every time I try to edit something in my FCP sequence.

What should I try to convert the footage to? Can someone give me some compressor settings? (Or if there is a simple way to use mpeg streamclip to convert?)

Eventually, some of the 7D footage will be conformed to play back in slo motion, some of it will need to play at “regular” speed.

How should I convert the 7D footage so it looks good and so that I don’t have to render every second I tweak my sequence? Ultimately, this will be for broadcast – 4:3 aspect ratio.
