  • How to check authenticity of Final Cut Pro serial…

Posted by Zak Stoltz on December 17, 2010 at 9:24 pm

I recently purchased a discounted copy of Final Cut Studio through a reseller on Amazon, and although I’m fairly sure everything is all good, there were some interesting little scuff marks underneath the shrink wrap that have my imagination wondering if the person I bought it from installed it, repackaged it, and sold it again. This is probably not the case, but I’m curious… So my question is this:

Is there any way to find out if a FCP serial number is already being used by another machine? I just want to make sure I’m not going to run into any problems come upgrade season.

    Thanks, my bovine brethren.

    No way to do that.

If you have the disks and the original apple documentation that has the serial number then you have the legal copy. If the other person used it and then repackaged it then they have the illegal copy.
