How to Capture AVCHD clips from HDD
I have been using Vegas 8 to capture/edit video from my Panasonic NV-GS400 miniDV camcorder for some years without problems. I am about to purchase a panasonic HDC-TM700 camcorder which captures High Definition video to SDHC cards using AVCHD. I would like to use the new camcorder on a holiday to Africa where I will not be able to capture the video to Vegas as a card fills up but instead will need to copy the video from the SDHC card onto a portable HDD (via someone else’s laptop), so I can re-use the card whilst away from home. My question is this:
If I do copy the video from the SDHC card onto an HDD will I be able to capture/import it into Vegas 8 when I get home. And if so, how will I do it (copy it back to the card first, or import directly from the HDD)?
Or will I have to buy several cards (as I do with miniDV tape) and keep them all until I get home?

No, you can import the copied files from the hard drive into Vegas without putting them back on the card first. Danny Hays
