  • How to calculate the usage of specific footage on timline?

Posted by Ariel Brener on July 2, 2009 at 11:01 am

    Hello I’m editing a project.
I got footage that I can use but I need to pay for it.

Is there a way to mark a directory or selected clips in the project and find out how much time they got on a specific timeline?

that way I calculate automatically how much raw footage I actually used.

And it will same me a great amount of time – instead of timing it out myself.

there is gotta be a way right?

One possible solution I can think of is to use the project trimmer at the end of the edit session. (I believe that is what it’s called.) What it does is remove all unused footage and only leave trimmed portions of the original video clips. I suppose then it would be pretty simple to determine how much of a specific clip was used just looking at the properties. (Or maybe automating to a seperate timeline all the clips in question just to determine a total length.)

    good idea Chris!
Ya I think its gonna work since I named all the clips I need to pay for in a certain manner.

still its a very backwords workflow – I guess thats why premiere still is a SEMI-Pro NLE app.

PPL! if there is a better way I will be glad to hear!!

    thanks again to Chris Buttacoli
