  • How to bring XDCAM-EX clip browser files into FCP

Posted by Lakhbir Sodhi on October 24, 2009 at 3:42 am

I have copied XDCAM-EX clip from SxS on my hard drive folder using Clip Browser software for editing on Avid Media Composer. Now I want to take (import) some of these clips into Fianl Cut Pro-6. My question is: how could I import these clips into FCP-6?

I understand “Log and Transfer Utility” is to be used to import SxS clips within FCPro, and Clip Browser for Avid. But I have clips copied using Clip Browser.

    Please help.

You need the SONY Transfer Tool to re-wrap the MP4 files as QT.
What kind of files do you have?
    QT?
    MP4?
    MFX?
    BPAV folders?

I think the Sony transfer program is a free download from sony if you don’t have the disc that came w/camera.

    Thanks for your response.
I have BPAV files on hard drive that I want to bring into FCP-6. I would like to know the workflow (best and easy way) to do it. I keep BPAV files on back up drive as well. I am new to FCP and learning.
    Thanks

I’m so new to FC I probably shouldn’t be answering your question but, I use the Sony program to convert to a .mov as they are saved on an ext drive. In XDCAM transfer is there a send to final cut button in the lower left? I used that.
I’m saying you have another program called XDCAM Transfer that will convert it to a .mov and send in into FC.

Right. You need SONY Transfer Software.
When you install it you can use it as standalone or from inside FC.
    BUT…
You need to put each BPAV folder inside a new folder.
With the SONY Transfer point to that folder and “Add”. Then import and download as you would do from a SxS card.
