How to bring keyed footage to premiere pro from AE
Hi all!
I have a weird problem. I’m working with footage shooted with Canon D5 mark 2. It’s 1920×1080 so HD and 29,97 fr / sec. (prints out QT movies) We used green and bluescreen for entire video.
So, I need to:
1. Slow the footage to 25 fr / sec in premiere
2. Key the screens in AE
3. Edit the video in premiere
4. Fix the keyings in AE and propably do some more efecting
But the porblem was that when I brought the footage from AE to premiere after keying it didnt show the keys ´cos premiere doesnt have keylight or simple choker.
Does anyone have anything that might help me at this? This is my first time that I use AE or Premiere for editing. Usually I use Avid..

1. Slow the footage to 25 fr / sec in premiere
Do not do conversion in premiere- finish in 29.97 and convert the end result in AE. Here’s a helpfull post on how to do that:

1. Finish the cut in Premiere
2. Open the Premiere project in AE, do the key and fx- render out tga/tiff
3. Convert final sequence in AE from NTSC to PALTudor “Ted” Jelescu

Thank you Ted for your answer. You gave me a lot to think about. I will do the edit first in Premiere and then key the final video in AE.
Good thing is to use dynamic link to check the keys while editing, to see if the pictures match?Another question, is my project settings right if I use AVCHD 1080p 30 or can I edit it in HDV 1080p 30 with 1440×1080?
Sorry if I´m being pretty messy with my explanation here. Hope you understand what I mean.
Oh and why render out tga/tiff?

Regarding codecs and compression Dave LaRonde has some great basic tips in this forum. Check them out.
Regarding tga/tiff for fx/key: since most compressed footage does not use all the info in each frame(thus the compression) it is best to render out full uncompressed frames that will give AE the whole info yo work with for fx/keying/color grading. Also it is best to have progressive frames and not interlaced.
Settings: use in Premier whatever settings match your source footage. So if you got AVCHD then use a AVCHD setting, and so on.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu
