How to black out a spot of a 2 second clip through FCP 7
Hi, when we were shooting the movie (HD, digital) a gaffer’s tape shows up too obviously on a laptop. How to black this piece out (it was a black surface but the tape has slight different color, therefore is noticeable) on FCP7? Is it doable?

Try this, it works if there is not too much movement in the object you are fixing.
Duplicate the clip on a track above it. Crop the clip to a small area right next to the gaffer’s tape. Make your cropped area about the same size, a little bigger is better. Then reposition the cropped clip over the tape. Some edge feathering will help too.

You could also try the “limit color” effect in the 3-way color corrector, as well as exporting a still to photoshop, cleaning it up with the clone brush, and then layering that back in with a soft-edge matte.
