  • How to bend a bunch of cloned cubes over time

Posted by Craig Ricker on May 8, 2015 at 2:57 am

Basically, i’m trying to create a wave like effect as if the cubes were seaweed in the water, moving with the movement of the waves.

My approach was, to use a bend deformer and make a cube bend. Done

Cloner can create a line of these bending cubes. Done

But how do I offset the animation of the bend deformer so that the cubes bend 1 after the other, rather than all at once.

My approach might be completely wrong, but thats where i’m looking for some help.

add a Step Effector for the cloner, turn off the usual PSR (Scale is on by default) in Parameters and just enable the Time Offset at the bottom by making it bigger than 0. Like this 8819_mographoffsetanimation.c4d.zip

Heck, that is perfect! How easy it is to get frustrated at the small things when they are just staring you in the face! Thankyou!

Another way to approach this would be to use two copies of the bent cube, with opposite bends, and the cloner’s blend mode.
